This Mandala makes me think of a Chakra.

Though the mouth of the flower-like bell of the chakra is on the surface of the etheric body, the stem of the trumpet-like blossom always springs from a centre in the spinal cord. It is almost always to these centres in the spine, and not to the superficial manifestations of them, that the Hindu books refer when they speak of the chakras.
